5 Tips to get Healthy Kinky Curly Hair

1. Co-wash.

Yes, it is important to keep your hair clean and you will need a shampoo to do that. But shampoos contain harsh chemicals, particularly the sulfate ones, that strip your hair’s natural oils. The oils are necessary to keep the health and shine of hair. So as a woman with natural kinky curly hair, co-washing is a hair washing procedure that will benefit you. Wash your hair with sulfate-free conditioners only and just use a mild clarifying shampoo once a month.

2. Enhance your curls by keeping your Hair Moisturized.

Use essential oils or natural oils like avocado oil and olive oil to keep your hair hydrated. There are moisture creams available in the market that are geared towards enhancing natural curls. Just find one that works for you. You may also want to try homemade hair masks made of natural ingredients like eggs, bananas, avocados, onion juice, and herbs. A homemade protein hair mask with egg and yogurt can instantly give life to damaged natural kinky curly hair.

3. Protect it.

Dried tresses are results of constant tugging from combing and brushing and from intense heat of blow dryers. So practice and get good at finger detangling so you never have to use combs. Natural kinky curly hair are fragile and finger detangling can prevent breakage. Do try braids, twists, weaves and hair straps and put a stop to styling for a few weeks or months. It is possible, very possible, but one needs to stick with some rules and just be patient.
