What to Do:
Read the instruction that comes with your dye box to ensure you have all the right information before proper application. Then, put your gloves on, separate your hair into sections, and then clip it in place.
Apply the lighter shades on your hair from root to tip while working the sections. It is important to make sure you have color on the top and underneath the hair for curly hair.
After the lighter shade has been applied, go back and braid each of the four sections. Start the braids around ear level, as this is where you’re going to add the darker shade for dimension.
Once you have your four braids, mix the darker color and, using the makeup sponge, go back and paint it onto exposed sections of the braided hair. It’s up to you how much darker color you want to add, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. The result is a refreshed take on your current hair color with tone and dimension.

We know you all have been wondering How To Dye Curly Weave or How To Dye Curly Hair Without Damage. What is the best way to color your hair from the brown or black to the honey brown, blondes and more to compliment your style? We know a lot of you have been asking for tips on coloring your Kinky Curly Weave or the Afro Tight Kinky Hair Weave 3C-4A
| Can You Dye Afro Kinky Hair Weave Or Curly Hair Weave?
The simple answer is YES, you can Dye Afro Kinky Hair Weave or Curly Hair Weave. It is quite easy to dye Cuticle Virgin Hair Extensions due to the Cuticle being intact!
Afro Kinky Curly Hair Weave in general, requires more maintenance. To have a quality weave you can dye, you must produce it from 100% Cuticle Hair. This type of hair quality will maintain hair integrity after the coloring process. Quality hair is made of 100% unprocessed natural human hair, this allows you to dye or bleach the hair with minimal damage.
Opt For Already Colored Hair Weave Extensions Instead! , There are limitations with coloring Curly Hair Extensions. Even though the hair is in Natural Color, it has been treated for texture. Coloring it too light will definitely compromise the integrity of the hair.
There are limitations with coloring Curly Hair Extensions or Textured Straight Hair Extensions. Even though the hair is in Natural Color, it has been treated for texture so coloring it too light will definitely compromise the integrity of the hair. We recommend lifting it to two to three levels. You can go higher if ONLY you’re creating a highlight. Going darker is much easier as it does not compromise the Hair Cuticle.
Imagine coloring Relax Hair or Chemically Permed Hair. It is too much processing on the hair so it will result in excessive dryness and which will lead to tangling and shedding.
Check out our girl Lexi. She dyed her Kinky Curly from Hair Extension Company and showed many levels of dying hair. There may be some shades of brown, yellow or red in your hair that you could come across, but it is just a step to pass so you can reach what you want unless you want red or blonde.
Please be sure to follow our guide for reaching a successful coloring process. Remember she did not bleach the hair, just lightening the color to a honey brown shade. Leave Bleaching to PROFESSIONALS!
What You Need:
- 40 Developer – it’s a liquid base and can be any brand
- Aluminum Foil – this time you can use the cooking foil, but hair foils usually coming in smaller strips for highlighting
- Dark and Lovely’s Golden Blonde Hair Dye
- Hair Color Mixing Bowl and Brush
- Timer
Steps for Coloring:
In this guide, Lexi used Dark & Lovely’s Light Golden Blonde and a 40 Developer.
Use Aluminum foil to protect your counters (and lay hair on)
Spread the coloring, (using the coloring brush), on the hair to make sure to get the roots to tip.
Then, turn the hair over and made sure to coat the hair with the dye again, to make sure all of the hair would be the same color.
Cover the hair with the foil, (because it traps heat that you need to lighten the hair), and let it sit for about 45 minutes.
Then, thoroughly rinsed the color out and dried it.
Another option to speed up the process is applying a hairdryer (hood dryer preferably or hold a hand dryer) over the hair you are dying with the hair covered at all times for 15 minutes just to get it going. This would require you to check the hair periodically until you see the color you want. Please DO NOT leave the hair ALONE to avoid over-processing!! Check it periodically for a successful finish.
