•DETANGLE Before Washing!
In order to truly know how to care for kinky curly hair extensions or your natural kinky curly hair, you must master the detangling technique. Before washing, make sure to completely detangle hair from the tip gradually going to the root. Finger detangling should be your first point of the detangling process.
Using your fingers will regulate the tension you put on your hair and help to identify the knots quite in time to avoid excessive matting! It is important to access your hair and remove minor knots through Finger detangling. Do this in between real wet detangling and right before you perform a wet detangling also.
After Finger detangling, use a wide-tooth comb to comb through the hair spraying hair with a mixture of very warm water and moisturizing conditioner.
• Section Your Hair Before Washing
Section your hair before washing. This will help you manage and control your hair, especially if you have a tighter curl like 3C-4A or 4B to 4C hair.4 sections are ideal but you can make more if you like.
• Use a Sulfate-Free Organic Shampoo
Use a sulfate-free organic shampoo at least once every two weeks to get rid of the build-up. Using a shampoo with sulfates in it will make the hair dry out. Also, always maintain the hair going in one direction throughout the shampooing and conditioning process to avoid tangling.
• Use a Moisture Rich Conditioner
NOT ALL conditioners are meant for Curly Hair! moisturizing conditioner can work wonders on your hair. Always make sure to use a moisture-rich conditioner and don’t raise off all the conditioner. Leave some behind to keep the hair hydrated.
•Avoid Too Much Product:
AVOID too many products like greasy products, using holding sprays, gels, and likes. These will make the hair hard, and lifeless and tend to tangle. If this happens, wash with clarifying shampoo and mild conditioner and your hair will be as good as the first time. This is a great advantage of cuticle hair!
•Air Dry Hair Instead of Blow Dry
Preferably, air-dry hair as opposed to drying it with a hairdryer. Always allow hair to properly air-dry up to 80% then finish with a low-head dryer and diffuser attachment.
• Braid, Twist, Bun, or Pineapple hair at night to preserve the style
Take a few minutes each night to braid, twist bun, or pineapple the hair to avoid hair matting and tangling. Make sure the ends are tucked away. To refresh your curl in the morning, mix warm water and a small conditioner and spray onto the hair, picking gently with your fingers. Then shake the hair!
• Wear a Satin or Silk Scarf to bed
Before sleeping, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf or sleep on a pillow that is either silk/satin. It is important to protect your hair while you sleep! Using a Satin or Silk scarf will prevent your hair from having direct contact with fabrics on your pillowcase. This will help prevent matting and tangling which can easily lead to breakage.
• Use Heat Sparingly!
Use heat sparingly to maintain hair integrity and prevent cuticle damage. Heat styling tools like blow dryers and hot irons cause serious heat damage to your natural hair or virgin hair weave. Using heat too often will thin out the hair and direct heat can cause irreversible. hair cuticle damage which will make your hair fragile and easy to break. Opt for other heat freestyles like Twist Out, Bantu Knots, Braid-Out, and Flexi Rod!
•Wear Protective Styles to Retain Length
Styles like Braids, Virgin Hair Weaves, and Natural Hair Wigs are the best protective styles for natural hair. They can tremendously improve your hair growth goal! Kinky Curly Hair is best worn in the gorgeous natural kinky state to keep the integrity of the curls. You can easily temporarily change the curl pattern but be mindful that constant straightening and hair color will damage your curls.
1-Defining Your Curls – Achieving Popping Curls: Now that you know how to brush kinky curly hair and how to detangle kinky curly weave or kinky curly natural hair. Make sure the hair is wet before styling. Wetting it will create a somewhat more uniform curl. Scrunch the hair to induce the curls. Seat, relax, and patiently wait to air dry while scrunching at intervals using a Microfiber towel.
Note: Do not play with hair while wet, otherwise, it will become very frizzy and super full. Natural curly hair pattern naturally goes in different directions. Without controlled styling, it will dry super FREEZY!

Please keep flat ironing this hair at the bare and we highly recommend roller-setting the hair and straightening it with medium heat to ensure the long-lasting of your kinky curl pattern. You can also perform a strand test to determine the amount of heat suitable for the hair without compromising the curl pattern.
Colouring Kinky Hair: If you apply permanent hair color, wash your hair with Apple Cider Vinegar after rinsing off the color. Then follow with shampoo and a very mild conditioner. This is a great clarifying recipe!

Installation Guide for Kinky Curly Hair – Tips for Kinky Curly Weave
We believe in professionalism, so we encourage getting a professional to do your installation. Ensure that your stylist has great knowledge of both weaving, I Tip Installation, and Natural Hair Care. You’re welcome by all means to do it yourself, but refer to our guidelines below:
| Weft – How To Care for Kinky Curly Extensions:
Do not split the weft to avoid shedding. ONYC Hair is double weft; it is single-sealed for easy weft splitting if necessary! This means that, once you split the weft, it will compromise the integrity of the weft so you are required to double seal the weft for reinforcement. To ensure a strong reinforcement, try the weft sealer made specifically for the hair weave. Seal the weft if you’re heavy on your hair or wearing any length longer than 16 inches. This is because the longer you go, the more maintenance is required for all hair types. It even becomes more difficult for longer lengths, so this will help further reinforce your weft. Check out this video for the tutorial on how how to seal wefts.
| Space The Tracks:
Space the track, especially at the nape area, and do not double the track. Ensure to use split tracks at least for the last two tracks for seamless blending. If you ought to use both textures, start with two tracks of 3B-3C, and then alternate each of the tracks and use the 3C-4A for the last two tracks to ensure proper blending with your leave out.

But that’s not all, she’ll also tell you that she wants the highest quality coupled with the ease of manageability. Thelma Okoro, CEO of ONYC® Hair Extension Company and Hair Extensions Expert, has tried all types of hair and realized that there were no brands that catered to ethnic textured hair. “Extensions are supposed to look and blend in with your hair… That’s when it was time to establish ONYC® Hair,” said Thelma Okoro. ONYC® Kinky is not just another grade of kinky hair
ONYC® Kinky is not just another grade of kinky hair. It has been perfectly emulated to replicate a natural 3B-3C and 3C-4A curl pattern. Our curl pattern is manually hand-tied on a rod by technicians with at least 10 years of experience in curl formation.
Then we create curls that go in different directions, instead of a uniform curl created by machines. The end goal is to offer you the most natural look! ONYC® Kinky is a derivative of Full Cuticle Virgin hair so it offers much easier maintenance.
